There is also a Railway Tavern, in Upper Bute street, and another in Hitchin road at this time. This Railway Inn has a number of names through its life. It is definitely the Mitre at some stage in its life and certainly in 1869, 1871 until at least 1877. A copy conveyance of properties from the brewer Pryor, Reid & Company to J. W. Green Limited of Luton in 1919 mentions the Railway Arms in High Town Road as having been the George IV, afterwards the William IV, afterwards the Three Jolly Butchers, now the Railway Inn. It is not named in the 1881 census
