This photo is of the current Running Horse, built c1966. The original Running Horse was demolished a couple of years before this pub was built and was situated directly opposite the current building. It was on the junction of Broad Lane and London Road, on a site that is now part roundabout and part office car park.

[In Chipping Wycombe, at a Tavern, The 1901 census lists Fred Rouse, a publican aged 49 and Elizabeth Rouse, his wife aged 39, and born in India. They were at the White Hart, Southall in 1898 and back as far as 1891, and John Rouse is here at least ten years earlier and from 1878; and prior to that, John Rouse is at the Black Horse.
Also listed are Fred, 19, John, 16, Elsie, 10 and May aged 8. Plus two servants, being George Dell aged 46, and Albert Poulteraged 18
The 1911 census lists Frederick Rouse, a professional footbnaller and widow aged 29 living with his sister at 21 The Butts, Brentford, Middlesex; and born in Cranford, Middlesex. Also listed as their mother Elizabeth Rouse, aged 48, sister Mary Rouse aged 17, and William Jamieson, brother in law, aged 50.
His sister Alice Mary Jamieson, aged 31 , a widow is head of the household, with her five year old daughter Helen.
