March 1837/William Napper, Fleur de Lis/East Hagbourne Land Inclosure meeting/../../Reading Mercury

My ancestor, also of Hagbourne, was a carpenter by trade, but for a brief period, when one of his children was baptised in March, 1847, he was listed as a "Tavern Keeper". He married a Napper (of the Fleur De Lis). His name was George Batt. Kelly's directory of 1848 lists him as a "Beer Retailer and grocer". *
