Wantage index
The facade above the plate glass window of the HSBC has been preserved and the windows look like the original, but sadly with security minded businessess the bottom half is very modern. The Falcon was bought out by the Council of the time for £900 to revert to the New town hall. The old town hall was in the centre of the market place and taken down to make way for the statue of Alfred the Great. Which is still there today. **

The Dixon Family were quite renowned in Wantage and I am a direct descendent
of John Dixon. Unfortunately for me on the female line, who very rarely
inherited land or property as they would marry and the assets would leave
the family. **
