Windsor and Eton Express 14 June 1902 :
Found drowned in the Thames - Mr Thomas James Kirtland, landlord of the "Coach and Horses", Oxford road, said he had seen the body of the deceased, and he recognised it as that of a man who came to his house on the Thursday evening about 8.20. He asked him for a bed, and witness told him, it would be sixpence for one night.
He replied that he had "only fourpence in the world". As he was an old gentleman witness said he would let him have a bed for four pence.
The deceased slept at his house the night, and saw him at five minutes to nine the next morning. He left about 9.20.

Thursday, September 18th - A lost licnce - Mr Thomas James Kirtland, of the "Coach and Horses", Oxford road, applied for a copy of his licence, the original having been lost. The magistrates granted the application on payment of the usual fees.
1909/Thomas James Kirtland of "The Coach and Horses", Oxford road Windsor kicensed victualler died 23 January 1909 Administration Oxford 13 February to Emma Kirtland widow. Effects £909 1s 2d.

Application has been made to the Town Council by the licence holder of the "Coach and Horses" beerhouse, Oxford road, for the premises to be licensed as a common lodging house. The application is at present under consideration.
The license of the "Coach and Horses", Oxford road, was also held over until the adjourned licensing meeting, owing to the death of the landlord, Mr Thomas James Kirtland.
