Croydon's Weekly Standard 06 July 1867 reports "John Jones was charged with stealing two sheets, the property of Thomas Passsingham at Upton Cum Chalvey on the 15th June; also with stealing two sheets the property of William Linsell at Uxbridge on the 17th June; also with stealing two sheets, the property of Thomas Reeves, at Chepping Wycombe on the 18th of June. Found guilty and sentenced to six months imprisonment." *

Bucks Herald 06 July 1867 reports "Stealing Sheets at Uxbridge &c. John Jones, alias Henry Simmonds, 33, laborer, was charged with stealing two sheets, the property of Thomas Passsingham at Upton Cum Chalvey on the 15th June; also with stealing two sheets the property of William Linsell at Uxbridge on the 17th June; also with stealing two sheets, the property of Thomas Reeves, at Chepping Wycombe on the 18th of June. This prisoner also pleaded guilty and the court sentenced him to one month's imprisonment with hard labour for each offence." *

Reading Mercury 03 August 1867 reports "Thomas Passingham of the Nag's Head beerhouse, Slough was fined 1s and 12s costs for assaulting John Coveney, a chimney sweep." *

Windsor and Eton Express 30 March 1872 reports "Dangerous Assault. Mary Brown wife of a costermonger was brought up in custody for assaulting Samuel Weston Costemonger. Both parties live in Slough Court. Complainant said. On the 25th March I was at Mr Passinghams the Nag's Head Beerhouse, Windsor Road. .......... Mr Thomas Passingham Landlord of the Nag's Head said; I remember Brown and Weston being at my house on the 25th inst. They and others were drinking together some time in the taproom. Previous to the assault complainant and prisoner had been joking each other and continued doing so for some little time and then got on to hard words. She said Weston wanted to take indecent liberties with her, and he turned round and said something about a rotten legged sow, making use of bad language at the time. Brown then took the pot from the table and dashed it at him. There provocation on both sides and they teased each other till they got quarrelling. Brown had not got the pot in her hand at the time she threw it, but took it from the table. The Cup hit the settle, and thus broken in pieces the way it is." *

Reading Mercury 13 April 1872 reports "Uttering Counterfeit Coin. Thomas Thomas and George Harley, two rough looking characters and described as labourers, were charge with the above offence at Slough on the 26th March. ..... Thomas Passingham who keeps the Nag's Head Inn at Slough, also gave evidence. Mr Roberts silversmith of Slough proved that the coin was not silver. ..... prisoners were sentenced to 12 months imprisonment with hard labour." *

Windsor and Eton Express 20 April 1872 reports " PERMITTING SPIRITS TO RE DRUNK IN A BEERROUSE.- Thomas Passingham, of the Nag's Head beerhouse, was summoned for permitting spirits, namely, half a quartern of gin, to be consumed in his house.—Defendant pleaded guilty. He said that the gin was sent for to Mr. Ford's, and he didn't think he was doing wrong in permitting it to he consumed in his house.—Mr. Long said his house became an unlicensed spirit house if he permitted gin to be drank there.—Mr. Ford said that a bad half-crown was tendered for the gin.—The coin was produced, and was described as "a shocking bad one."--Mr. Dunham said that there was Sunday trading carried on at Mr. Passingham's house.—Mr. Passingham said the statement was false.—The Chair-man said the fine was 10s. and costs 19s., and after what Mr. Dunham had just told them he had better be careful he did not come here again." *
