Public house to report
P.C.10 Sheldrick reports he heard some persons at the Chip Axe behind the Shire Hall at 1¼
am, knock’d at the door and said who he was, some person from inside threw a pail of water at
his legs. After knocking again, Mr Reynolds the Landlord open’d the door and was very
abusive. There were several persons drinking there at the time.
Over-written in the Superintendent’s hand, "Reynolds says it was a mistake of the Constables - it was the next house that threw the water.").
