A H Bakewell, now aged 45, the former Northampton and England opening batsman, is the landlord of the Chequers Inn, Fowlmere, Cambridgeshire, where he moved recently after several years as a licensee at Wisbech.
Bakewell started his first class career in 1928 at the age 0f 20; he first stopped the 1000 in 1930 ; touched the heights in 1933. His batting career was ended in 1936 in a car accident.
