29 Aug 1864 - William Wilson applied for, and was granted, a license for the Hyde Park Inn, Hilltop. *

The implication is that the inn was newly built and we can confirm that this pub was not listed in 1862 White’s Directory. (Derbyshire Courier - 03 September 1864) *

6 May 1929 – Death of Mrs Sarah Crookes, landlady of the Hyde Park Inn, widow of the above J W Crookes. (Derbyshire Times - Saturday 18 May 1929) *

Although not proved, it is assumed that John A Young took over the pub on his mother-in-law’s demise. *

1956 – Landlord may have been a Mr Hutchinson. (ref a newspaper note) *

John Arthur Young died in 1965, but probably no longer the landlord. *

Apr 2014 – Pub closed (temporarily) and for sale. *

Paul Tomlinson, ex-Sheffield United and Bradford City footballer, now owns the Hyde Park Inn *
