Ship, 1-3 Martins Lane, Exeter, Devon EX1 1EY

Exeter index

The Ship is one of Exeter's oldest and most cherished pubs, alleged as the favoured tavern of Sir Francis Drake. An inscription on our wall, allegedly penned by Drake himself in 1587, attests to his deep admiration for the pub.
It was a Greene King public house in 2017 and March 2026. Greene King has announced plans to sell off, or convert 150 pubs into tenanted or franchised locations, as the UK hospitality sector struggles with rising costs.
