In 1957, my grandparents Ralph & Elsie Joiner were the Publicans at that
time. I can tell you that they were running it during ww2 from my mothers
memories.. They retired somewhere around 1959 - 1960 and moved to a brewery
house in Albert Road, Parkstone, before returning some years later to a unit
in Lagland Street.
I would love to know more about the history of the building itself, as there
are so many stories from growing up. Like the smugglers tunnels underneath
the kitchen leading to the Quay, and apparently a man hung himself in the
room I was born in just to name a few.
I am also interested in finding out about my paternal fathers family
history. His name was Joseph Hinchliffe and in the 1950's while my
grandparents were in the Swan, his family were publicans of another pub in
Poole. *
