Barking pub history index
This pub was established by 1609. It was rebuilt in 1893 in the form shown in the photograph. In 1961 the pub was again rebuilt, moved, and was renamed the Captain Cook (listed separately). The George was derelict in the 1960s and was demolished. The Captain Cook was built in a different location near the new town Hall so did not replace the George on its original site. *
