Many Tributes at Funeral. The burial took place on Friday at the East London Cemetery, Plaistow of Mr William George Short, licensee for many years at the Harrow, Ripple Road, Barking, who died after a long illness at the age of 76.
Mr Short had been an esteemed member of the licensed victuallers trade for about 40 years and among the well known houses of which he had been licensee were The Volunteer, East India Dock road, Bromley Hall Tavern, Poplar and the Sir John Lawrence, at Canning Town, which he took over when he first entered into the trade.
In his early life he was by profession a civil engineer engaged on Government works and he obtained his membership of the Amalgamated Society of Engineers until his death. He was also a Freemason at the Royal Victorian Lodge.
