Billericay pub history index

A listing of historical public houses, Taverns, Inns, Beer Houses and Hotels in Essex.

The Carpenters Arms was mentioned in the Alehouse Recognizances from 1772 to 1777 when Joseph Paperill was the licenseee during this 5 year period.
The Paperills were an old established Billericay family and in 1615 survey were noted as part-owners of the Anchor.
The site of the Carpenters Arms is uncertain but could have been Cottias, a property with which Joseph Paperill was associated.
