A Billericay pub landlady who survived a bomb attack is about to pull her last pint as she prepares to retire to the peace and quiet of the Norfolk countryside.
Twenty three years ago 65 year old Joyce Budden, who now runs the Mayflower pub in Jacksons lane, Billericay had her whole life turned upside down when she was caught in a blast of an IRA bomb attack on the Old Bailey.
At the time they were running the George pub, close to the courthouse.

The family were put up in trmporary hotel accommodation by the brewery while the wrecked pub was restored but they never returned and instead chose to move to the Mayflower in Billericay, then called the Dovecote.
