The Kings Arms, High street, is first mentioned in the Survey of Billericay in 1615, when it took over the property forrmerly known as the Crown. It is mentioned until 1765, but not listed in alehouse recognizances of 1769. It occupied the site which later was that of Laylands china and glassware, ironmongery, cycle shops etc.
