Formerly the Magpie and Horseshoe Inn, from 1831 until around 1980 it was the business premises and residence of members of the Bassom family, who were builders and decorators.
The licensee in 1769 was recorded on the Alehouse Recognizances as John Watson, at the Magpie and Horse Shoes; and again in 1770.
