Billericay Gazette. 15 July 1999 - John Adams, manager of the Pilgrim Pub in Mountnessing Road, celebrated taking the best pub title by sharing some liquid refreshment with his prize-winning plant.

September 2007 - POPULAR Billericay pub the Pilgrim has changed its name to the Inn on the Green. Manager John Adams, felt it was time for a change at the pub, in Mountnessing Road.
The old name reflected Billericay history, as the town was one of the starting points of the Pilgrim Fathers in the 17th century.
However, Mr Adams, 41, insisted the new one was not such a drastic break from the past. He said: "We are right by Gooseberry Green roundabout, which was named after the original pub - the Gooseberry.
