Billericay pub history index
A listing of historical public houses, Taverns, Inns, Beer Houses and Hotels in Essex.
The Swan is mentioned in the 1563 rental, along with the Crown and George. It closed between the years on 1765 and 1769. It was in the Wingfield family for 80 years, and retained by them as a private house after the closure of the Inn, as is shown on the 1831 Greenwoods Billericay map . The Swan occupied a basically Tudor building, which stood until some years before 1962; when it was demolished to make way for Warders and Stanleys.
