Bocking pub history index

The White Hart hotel, is an original coaching inn, a hotel rich in long standing history and local tales. It's a timber-framed home of tradition. Dating from the 16th century, the hotel embraces each of its authentic features, complementing them with modern-day comforts for a unique and relaxing stay. With 32 en suite bedrooms, each classically styles, the White Hart is a stately hotel. The refurbished restaurant serves a wide range of traditional English food, while the two bars offer superb character and traditional log fire ambience along with a good selection of real ales. The White Hart is only 20 minutes from Stansted Airport, along with meeting room facilities and free wi-fi for up to 30 people; this hotel makes it the ideal location for your next business meeting. This hotel only accepts guide dogs.
It was a Greene King public house in March 2026. Greene King has announced plans to sell off, or convert 150 pubs into tenanted or franchised locations, as the UK hospitality sector struggles with rising costs.
