George Burgess, born 1780 in Clavering, was my 4x GGrandfather.
His son William (Bricklayers Arms ) was my 3x GGrandfather. Other son George Burgess (b 1807) and wife Amelia Chipperfield were in the Axe and Compasses from at least 1851. He is listed as Bricklayer & Bar Shop Keeper Clavering, Hill Green from 1851 - 1881 census. Also listed in Kelly's up to 1886. He died in 1888 in Clavering .

William and family emigrated to Moreton Bay, Australia on board Ship -
Parsee in 1856. George (father) died in 1859. **
