BURES-MOUNT, a parish in Lexden district,Essex; on the river Stour, adjacent to the Sudbury railway, near Bures station, 6 miles S by E of Sudbury. Post-town Bures, under Colchester. Acres, 1,404. Real property, £2,479. Pop., 301. Houses, 57. An ancient artificial mound here, about 80 feet high, and of unknown origin, has a base of nearly 1 and ½ acre. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Rochester. Value, £400. Patron, the Rev. P. Brett.
