William James Chittenden was proprietor from 1894 to 1899. This fits in well
with family history. My grandmother, William’s daughter Gwen was a child
there and then visited again later in about 1930 with her son my uncle all
now deceased. Gwen was born in 1892 and her son in 1923. The second photo
will be Gwen and her older Sister Ally with probably her father. Later in
his life William ran the
Grasshopper in
Westerham where he had Winston Churchill as patron!
