The Bulls Head, South Green, Billericay was first mentioned in deeds held at the Essex Record Office, and held as an Inn in 1712.
In 1730, John James was admitted to several moieties of messuage called the "Bulls Head", and in 1758 Samuel Johnson admitted to a messuage formerly the "Bulls Head", which he was left in the will of John James.
