There were two Plough pubs in Great Burstead, one is at Tye Common which lasts until maybe 1925; and the Plough, at Grange road, South Green, Great Burstead which was earlier a beer house and still going strong in 1939 and no doubt the Plough, Southend road which closed a few years ago. Now known as the Burstead Plough (in 1962 for example) when it was built.

The Burstead Plough was a sixties development. This pub replaced the Old Plough which was the other side of the row of shops at the top of Grange Road, and now a Doctor’s surgery. The Burstead Plough was knocked down over before 2005 and a retirement complex, Southwood Court replaced it.
