The Royal Oak in South Green is first mentioned in the 1706 Survey, when Samuel Thresher, who also owned the Red Lion and White Lyon. Between 1730 and 1745 it was held by Geoffrey French and Johnathan Ewer, who in 1745 acquired the Red Lion. The Royal Oak is last mentioned in the Survey of 1765.
