Great Burstead pub history index
The modern address is at Southend road, Great Burstead, and would appear to be of Tudor origin, but has been so altered over time, it is difficult to say.
The Kings Head is a direct descendant of an Inn called the White Horse, which occupied the same building. This Inn opened shortly after 1750, but by 1760 the name had been changed to the Kings Head. The licensee was Arthur Marsh in 1769.
The Kings Head stood next to the old Sly street Turnpike, and probably the reason the Inn opened in the first place.
