Queen's Head, Great Clacton

Lucy Pyman, nee Sadler, was baptised 30.10.1810 and married William Pyman 31.3.1831 at Great Clacton. William Pyman was a Plumber and at time of his marriage to Lucy Sadler he became landlord of the Queen's Head where he remained until about 1843. In 1836 and 1842 he purchased cottages in Rosemary Lane (now Road) near the sea, and in 1843 he replaced one pair with a beerhouse, the 'hotel' for occasional visitors to Clacton Beach, as the area was then called. The site of the property here is now occupied by the Imperial. It does not appear that William and Lucy had any issue.

OS map reference 177148.

Eliza Sadler was baptised 7.12.1823. At the Queen's Head in 1841 possibly as a barmaid. Eliza was the sister of William Frederick Sadler my 2 x great grandfather.
