Harriet Agens, proprietoress of the Bricklayers Arms, commonly known as the Hotel, Purfleet, appeared to answer an information laid by Henry Robinson, police constable, with having Sunday, the 1st instance, opened her house for sale of beer and spirits during the hours of Divine service.
The charge being proved by Thomas Poulton, local constable of West Thurrock, the Magistrates convicted the defendant in a penalty of 50 shillings, and costs 20 shillings.
