Built in the mid 17th century and formerly the Post Boy Inn, the name was changed to celebrate Admiral Vernon's victory in Porto Bello. Joseph Wyatt was licensee at the Vernons Head, Rochford in 1766. Closed down about 1865 and the Victorian corn exchage was built on the site.
