The Temeraire is a Wetherspoons pub. Most of the 19th century the address was occupied by a solicitor, William Freelan. By 1911 , the building was a boarding school, run by the Cowlett sisters. In 1939 the building became the USRC (United Services Comrades Club) for ex-servicemen from 1930. The Temeraire is named after an famous ship at Trafalgar, in 1805, and also painted by JMW Turner.
