"The Prince of Wales was originally a pair of cottages. By 1832, James Pond had opened a bakery in the eastern most one and by 1866 his son, Edward, was also selling beer there. The beer house, later public house, named the Prince of Wales, survived in part of the cottage until the second cottage was incorporated into the public house in 1990" - village history board in Stow Maries church ***
