I have discovered that my great grandmother ran the Clothiers Arms, Chalford
between 1919 and 1926 (from electoral registers).
Minnie had been widowed in 1916 but was the daughter of a Stony Stratford
publican, so she knew the business.
Minnie also ran the Valley Inn. Apparently the Clothiers Arms was renamed
the Valley Inn on 11 Feb 1916 ; it is odd that it was still called the
Clothiers in electoral lists through 1926. *
