At the Annual Licensing meeting it was reported that four houses in the division had been closed and compensation paid.
The opposition of the renewal to the Orepool Inn kept by Ann Kear, was on the grounds that it was not required and was badly managed. Also opposed was the renewal of the Swan Inn, Brierley to Reuben John Smart, on the grounds he was a not a fit person to hold a license.
The total number of licenses was 86, or one for every 208 persons.
Seventy persons had been proceeded against for drunkenness and 65 convicted, being 19 more than the previous year.
All licenses were renewed and agreed to the transfer of the Orepool Inn to James Nash, of Sling, whilst Smarts license was renewed.
