My Great Great Grandparents, William & Amelia Heath, and their two sons in the 1881 census for Itchen Abbas when their address was “The Plough Inn” and William’s occupation was “Licensed Victualler” so I am assuming that they were the landlord and Landlady.
Willimm died in 1886 and his address it listed as The Plough Inn, Itchen Abbas and his place of death listed as Itchen Abbas.
Amelia died in 1891 and both her address and place of death are listed as The Plough Inn, Itchen Abbas. *
I also found them 10 years earlier in the 1871 census, living a few miles away at the
Bat and Ball, in Easton; and William is listed as an Inn Keeper. I found the Bat & Ball on a website that list pubs that are no longer pubs. It was converted to a residence in the early 1900s. It shows up on Google Maps Street View & the garden gate has a name plate stating “Old Bat & Ball”.
