In the early 1840’s the pub was owned by a one J Millard who was also a brewer who with his brother ran the Millard Brewery from the pub, the pub stood at the corner of Church Street and Milner Street. It was bought by Welsh’s Hyde Abbey Brewery in the early 1900’s before being sold on to Cooper’s Brewery finally ending up as a Watney’s Brewery pub when it closed on 20th June 1967, shortly after it was demolished when the area was redeveloped. *
