This Pub held a Licence since before 1869 belonging to
Scrases Star Brewery before being brought by Strongs of Romsey, in 1969 it was
taken over by Whitbread Brewery, it closed in April 1974 and is now a private
residence.
When it first opened it was known as the Railway Bridge Inn due to its
proximity to a foot bridge over the LSWR London to Bournemouth railway line, it
was very much a local as it was down a dead end side road, not visible from any
other road. *
