As can seen from the photos, the Bridge Inn has seen better days, dating back to the 1860�s when a James Moody was landlord. It become familiarly known as Meacher�s after a William Meacher took over in 1913, and his son Ernie Meacher was the landlord in the late 1970�s. It had over its time been owned by the Winchester Brewery and then by Marston�s Brewery, 1995 saw it refurbished as a traditional London boozer. However, in 2007, it was brought by Greene King who changed its persona by adding facilities that attracted a troublesome cliental. It closed for good in 2012 and has been demolished to be replaced by housing. *
In May 1921 Landlady Mrs Meacher was fined �2 for selling intoxicating liquor outside permitted hours. *
