In the 1830’s this pub was called Red Rover it is thought in honour of the stage coach that once ran from Southampton to London, a one Owen McGrath was the then landlord and its address was 1 New Road. The 1850’s saw the pub renamed the Bridge Tavern, It used to be a Forder’s Hampton Court Brewery, in July 1925 it was bought by Brickwood’s Brewery, transferring to Whitbread’s Brewery in 1971 when they purchased Brickwood’s Brewery, the pub closed in 1982 being converted into an Art Gallery as can be seen in the photo, it has since been demolished and replaced by a Premier Hotel. *
