This was first all-new Watney�s pub built in Southampton after WW2 it gained its licence when the licence for the blitzed Newcastle Inn, in East Street, was surrendered. It under went a major refurbishment in early 1986, however this failed to save the pub which closed in 2011 to be converted into a Tesco Express. *
