In the 1860’s Andrew Gay was landlord of this beer house at 4 Brunswick Terrace, in July 1876 Welsh’s Lion Brewery leased it at the annual rent of £28, it later transferred to the Winchester Brewery later to become a Marston’s Brewery pub. On 10th March 1959 a full license was transferred from the blitzed Royal Exchange Tavern . It closed in 1965 and was shortly after demolished to make way for the Charlotte Place car park; it is now under the Jury’s Inn Hotel. *
