Southampton pub history index
In the 1850’s Robert Hunt was the Landlord of this fully
licensed house, then called the Exeter Inn, the original pub was demolish and
replaced by this building in 1918 by Cooper’s Brewery. It later transferred to
Watney’s Brewery, and it was under their ownership when it closed in 1964.
The area was redeveloped with a Multi Storey NCP Car Park now occupying the
site.
The Bakers Arms in Clifton Terrace can be seen behind the car halfway up the
hill. *
