This private house became a pub in the early 1870’s with a
William Wyatt as the first landlord
In 1806 the house belonged to a John Sennet who founded the local Wesleyan
Chapel, as a pub it came under the ownership of Aldridge’s Bedford Brewery later
transferring to Brickwood’s Brewery and finally in 1971 a Whitbread’s Brewery
pub it closed in 1974 and later demolished when Bitterne’s commercial district
was subjected to complete redevelopment and the construction of a By Pass . *
