The Globe Inn, 55 Stratton Road at the Junction of Vaundrey
Street, Shirley
Dating from the early 1880’s when Stratton Road was then called Beavis Street
and the pub was then the Globe Tavern, a Mr W. H. Johnson was the Landlord. The
pub belonged to Barlow’s Victoria Brewery; it was later sold to Brickwood’s in
whose hands it remained until its closure in 1966, for redevelopment of the
area. *
March 1910 Arthur Snelgrove the Landlord was fined 10/- (50p) for selling beer to a drunken person. *
