In the early 1870�s John Woodford was landlord for the owners Barlow�s Victoria Brewery, later Brickwood�s Brewery took it over before finally coming under the ownership of Whitbread�s Brewery. It closed in 1983 and was demolished shortly afterwards, to make way for the Bitterne Health Centre which now sits on the site. *
