John Stratton was landlord in the early 1850’s of this fully licensed Scrase’s Star Brewery pub, later becoming under the ownership of Strong’s Romsey Brewery until 1971 when Whitbread’s brewery brought them out in 1969, Whitbread’s Brewery sold it on to Gale’s Horndean Brewery, it was however nearly demolished in 1975 it was saved and is now a grade 2 listed building, it has been converted into flats but still retains the name Royal Albert Hotel. *
