Belonging to the Rectory of St Mary�s Church the first record of this premise being a pub was in 1856 when Dan Hatcher a local boat builder was the landlord on 31st December 1938 Elderidge Pope�s Dorchester Brewery brought the premise having rented it since 1879, it has always held a full licence . It closed in 1993 after being ransacked and vandalised by burglars. Squatters moved in and used the premises as a shebeen. *
