My great grandparents William and Alice Dunford (nee Page) were proprietors of the Railway Inn in Winchester, between about 1910 and 1920. Their whole family (4 sons / 5 daughters) lived and worked at the pub when available through World War One. Three of four sons were of age and fought during the war. Happily, all returned home. Four of five daughters and the youngest son permanently emigrated to Canada before and immediately after the war. William and Alice Dunford retired to Greenhill Road after July 27, 1922 when their son Albert Dunford married. *
