An unnamed pub exists as in Gravesend in 1871 and 1861, and I am allocating this to the Catherine Wheel. aka Catherine Wheel in 1895 & earlier. The current Catherine Wheel was completely rebuilt in 2007 after a fire in 2004, although suggested it dates back to circa 1765. It looks like a new build to me.

The license of the Jolly Butchers, a beerhouse at Clapgate, Albury was considered.
The house belongs to Messrs E K & H Fordham, of Ashwell. The house was doing an average trade for the past three years of 144 barrels and 82 dozen per annum.
The present licensee, Mr Arthur John Chipperfield, handed in a petition signed by 41 persons using the house asking for a renewal of the license.
Supt Hassell stated that the Royal Oak was 125 yards south of the Jolly Butchers, and the Catherine Wheel 892 yards north. Albury has one public house to every 101 inhabitants, whilst the average for the division was one to every 126 inhabitants.
It was referred to the compensation authority and renewal was refused.

Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen make their first appearance at a public dance at Little Hadham Village Hall on Wednesday, May 16.
The dance is being promoted by an ex-member of the band - now the licensee of the Catherine Wheel, Albury, Mr Paddy Lightfoot.
Paddy played banjo and sand with the band from 1960 until 1972, made more than 12 records, played a Royal Command performance and did extensive tours all over the world.

Vicar Tony Raven is exchanging holy orders for last orders in an effort to spread the spirit of the Lord.
Mr Raven, 64, of Albury, Hertfordshire, will swap jobs with local pub landlord Lee Goodmanship, 26. for a week.
The vicar will pull pints while wearing his dog collar aat the Catherine Wheel pub.
