My great grandparents were the Humphries' who ran it from 1922 to the mid
1930s. Horace Biggerstaff then ran it until 1946 when my grandparents Bertie
and Ivy Munt took it over. They ran it until late 1959 or early 1960 when
Gerry Payne took it over (along with the pub labrador). When the "Shah" was
demolished for redevelopment Gerry moved to the "Black Horse" in Berkhamsted.
